Aspen Highlands, Aspen, Colorado
The Hines Corporation began a major renovation of the spectacular Aspen Highlands Ski Area in Aspen, Colorado in 1998. The Highlands is just 5 minutes from downtown Aspen, immediately adjacent to the Buttermilk Ski Area, and backs up to the White River National Forest. The project took advantage of the minimal infrastructure at the mountain base as well as the undeveloped real estate between 5-Trees and Maroon Creek Drive. The $270M build included a Ritz-Carlton Club with ultra-deluxe time sharing at the bottom of the hill—all residence achieve membership. A combination of architecturally integrated town homes and condominiums as well as shops and restaurants fill out the mountain base.
31 ski in homes border the base development divided equally on the Thunderbowl east side and the Maroon Creek west side. Elite privacy, spectacular views, and ultra-convenient location partially describe the home sites which are now 90% built out.
